The State Policy Documentation Project (SPDP)—a joint project of the Center for Law and Social Policy and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities—tracked policy choices on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash assistance programs and Medicaid in the 50 states and the District of Columbia from 1998 to 2000. The information presented on this Website was collected through surveys completed by a key policy advocate in each state, confirmed by state agency staff, and verified against state statutes and regulation by SPDP staff. All collected SPDP data are posted here.
